ROCKNET MEETING MINUTES
June 12, 2003
The meeting was held in the City Manager's Conference room at City Hall.
The meeting convened at 7:40 pm.
In attendance: Ben Creitz, Mike Cannon, Li Ming Shen, Carlos Santiso,
Jim Beller, Bob Ekman, Roald Schrack, Julie Kasper
1) The minutes of the previous meeting were accepted.
2) Julie reported on the City website:
a) The city will switch it's URL to RockvilleMD.gov in July
b) A new content management system is being put in place that will
allow the separate city departments to control and modify their
web pages.
c) There will be a new search engine and automatic calendar.
d) Visits for May were up for both the city and Rocknet.
Rockville: 2797 per day vs. 2150 for April
Rocknet: 439 per day vs. 392 for April
e) Items added to the city website:
- New section on Historic Rockville Information
- GIS now available
- Town Center Transportation Study with many charts and graphs.
- Draft Design Guidelines for Town Center
- Civic Center Gallery information for 2004
- Coming next week - Lincoln Park Community Center and Citizen
Survey results.
3) Bob Ekman reported on Rocknet, new groups from Americana center and
College Square Condominiums are interested. Lyris 7 is now available
for installation on our new server.
4) A collection of material on Wi-Fi produced by Doug Breisch was
distributed for study by the board. There was extended discussion on the
possible extent and pricing of Wi-Fi service in Rockville. It was decided
to ask that a presentation on Wi-Fi be the main business of the
next meeting to be held on July 10.
