ROCKNET MEETING MINUTES May 8, 2003 The meeting was held in the City Manager's Conference room at City Hall. The meeting convened at 7:45 pm. In attendance: Brian Pierce, Jim Beller, Bob Ekman, Stan Klein, Mike Cannon, Julie Kasper, Art Casanova, Keshaua Prasad, and Carlos Santiso. 1) After minor corrections, the minutes of the previous meeting were accepted as ammended. 2) A welcome to RockNet was given to Keshaua Prasad and Carlos Santiso. Julie Kasper was thanked for sitting in for Betsy Robbins. 3) Julie Kasper reported on the City Website: a) Visits were down a bit -- 2150 vs. 2482 in March. b) New items on the site include State of the City address, election items in English and Spanish, more Town Center information, and the Summer Recreation Guide. c) The Proposed Operating Budget (all sections) is now available in .pdf format. 4) Bob Ekman reported that Rocknet is still on the old server. The conversion to Lyris List Manager continues to be the sticking point. Visits were down -- 392 vs. 424 in March. 5) Bob Ekman thanked the participants in the RockNet exhibit at Rockville Science Day. We had around 500 visitors, handed out 12 utility CDs, took pictures of families and handed out 20 diskettes of the pictures to them. 6) The issue of public wireless access to the Internet was discussed. Some of the items discussed were scope of service, user cost, RockNet expenses, relations to the City, and benefits to our community.
