                     ROCKNET MEETING MINUTES

                          June 13, 2002

The meeting was in the City Manager's Conference room, began at 7:30 pm

In attendance were: Jim Beller, Mike Cannon, Betsy Robbins, Bob Ekman, and
Roald Schrack

1) The minutes of the previous meeting were accepted with minor revisions.

2) Betsy reported on developments on the City site:
 a) Quarterly City Projects update is new.
 b) Changes in stormwater management ordinance added.
 c) Highlights of the Hometown Holidays presented.
 d) "Out to Lunch" Wednesday summer band music in coordination with farmer's
    market schedule presented.
 e) Family Arts night theatre events listed.
(The following items are in progress)
 f) Reworking Neighborhood services dept. site: Code enforcement,
Neighborhood resource coordinators, and Community Services.
 g) Rock enRoll upgrade initiated with help of new vendor package.
 h) Historic District Information planned.
 i) Permit and Inspection Services page will be improved.

3) WebTrends package downloaded and installed. Betsy presented the statistics
for Jan, Feb, March, April and May for both City and Rocknet Sites. In May
the Rockville site had an average of 4,813 page views per day, the Rocknet
site had 614 average page views per day. The unique visits per day were
about half the page view values. There was extended discussion of other
aspects of the six page set of data presented for each month. The city will
probably buy the package.

4) Bob Ekman reported on the Rocknet site. He is developing a Utilities page
to list the local Gas, Electric, Phone, etc sites for the community.

5) There was extended discussion of a Listserve package by Lyris. This
package will support 1000 people for $500. For $1500 dollars the package will
support 10,000. It was decided to go ahead with the purchase of the $500
package at first and then upgrade if necessary. The pack has a somewhat
non-user-friendly archive part that can be improved. A third party vendor
offers a very nice archive package for $1000. It was not decided what to do
about the archive feature now.

6) Bob floated the idea of a symposium to be presented by Rocknet on Broadband
services. Vendors would be invited to be members of a Panel to inform the
public what is available. It was felt that there is a large demand for
broadband service but relatively few people have signed up for it.

The meeting adjourned at 9:15 pm

Respectfully submitted:
