ROCKNET MEETING MINUTES
January 10, 2002
The meeting was called to order at 7:30 pm in the City Managers Conference
Room.
In attendance were: Bob Ekman, Mike Cannon, Vinny Hughes, Betsy Robbins,
Brian Pierce, Ben Pauwels, Stan Klein, Roald Schrack
1) Minutes of the previous meeting of December 13, 2001 were amended
and approved.
2) City Website: A new program Web Trends that will supply statistics of
usage is being tested.
New pages are being added to the website covering the new climbing gym at
the civic center, building permit forms are now downloadable, new special
events and guided tours are being prepared. The Rock Enroll facility is
being examined for possible improvements.
3) The Rocknet site was down for about 36 hours over the weekend before New
Years. The city staff fixed it. Perhaps a loose cable caused the outage.
4) The new Dell server has been order and should arrive soon. There was
extended discussion on the listserve program to be used in the new system.
5) Board membership was expanded as Ben Pauwels was invited and agreed to
join the Board.
6) The City Budget is in preparation. There was discussion of possible
needs during the coming year that should be asked for. A calendar program
that could be updated by Rocknet members was considered.
7) Vinny Hughes is a City Community Liaison covering about half the 53 city
civic associations. There was a discussion on the ways that civic
associations could use Rocknet to increase communication in the associations.
8) An organization in Silver Spring asked that we show a link to them. It
was decided that Rocknet would link them if they could show substantial
service to the Rockville community.
