ROCKNET MEETING MINUTES November 8, 2001 The meeting convened in the Boards and Commission Room of Rockville City Hall at 7:30 PM In attendance: Bob Ekman Betsy Robbins Roald Schrack Stan Klein Mike Cannon Ben Pauwels Charles Worsley Norm Hampton 1) Minutes of October 11 were accepted as submitted. 2) A new website analysis program was tried that resulted in statistics for Rocknet that were about half of previous month, 212 average users per day. The difference is not understood and it was decided to see what the result was for the coming month. 3) Betsy reported on a class she had given to city staff on HTML. It was only two hours long and was meant to familiarize the staff with what was possible in web pages. She is now working on Bikeways and City Election materials for the city website. 4) Bob Ekman asked about the lack of comments to Rocknet and wondered if the system was working properly. He said he will test it. 5) It was reported that Jim Beller had one request for use of the digital camera. The proposed use by Wooton High Schools students was discussed and it was agreed that they should be able to use the camera. 6) Bob Ekman reported that there was a lack of overwhelming interest in the Web Authoring Workshop that he had proposed. He propose restructuring the course and offering something in January. 7) The search for a new listserve program was reported on by Bob. He said that he has a list of 8 possible programs. It was pointed out that the program should have an archive facility. 8) The was an extended discussion on the virtue of changing the server from NT 4 to Windows 2000. Mike said he would get a price on the W2000 Advance server under a Dell contract that the city has. 9) Rockville Arts Place wants Rocknet to host its website but it wants to have its own virtual domain.
