ROCKNET MEETING MINUTES July 12, 2001 Meeting convened at the City Manager's Conference Room, Rockville City Hall at 7:40 PM In attendance: Bob Ekman Betsy Robbins Mike Cannon Lee Jones Brian Pierce Jim Beller Ben Pauwels Roald Schrack 1. The Minutes of June 14 were accepted as submitted. 2. The City web site has been moved from the Rocknet server to their own server. The stats for June show 1497 hits/day for the city site and 337 hits/day for Rocknet. Betsy reported on recent upgrades to the city site - West Nile Virus information, Rock Enroll application that allows online enrollment in recreation department activities. It also offers tours of 3 recreational facilities. An intranet "i-Rock" has been launched for internal use only in City Hall. It will carry material of interest to city employees. Mike Cannon reported on a security evaluation now in progress on the city web site. This was felt to be especially important with the advent of enrollment procedures now available. There have been no major changes to the Rocknet site. 3. Jim Beller looked into the digital camera merits and decided that the Sony MVC-FD87 was a safe bet. Betsy Robbins purchased it at Penn Camera and brought it to the meeting. There was considerable discussion on what precautions should be taken when lending it out. It was decided that an announcement be made to civic associations that the camera was available "for community related purposes". Jim Beller was to draw up appropriate forms and procedures. Ben Pauwels was the first person to borrow the camera. The final cost of the camera, extra battery, and warranty by Penn Camera was $690.98 4. There was a discussion of the motivation of the attendees for their involvement in Rocknet with a view to finding ways to increase our membership.
