ROCKNET MEETING MINUTES March 8, 2001 Meeting convened at the City Manager's Conference Room, Rockville City Hall at 7:30 PM. In attendance: Ben Pauwels, Bob Ekman, Jim Beller, Stan Klein, Brian Pierce, Betsy Robbins, Roald Schrack, Mike Cannon 1) Minutes of the meeting of February 8 accepted. 2) Rocknet Website: Hungerford and Fallsmead community websites active. Twinbrook Citizens Association website upgraded. Roald assisted Norman Hampton on the Sister City website. 3) Betsy Robbins reported on statistics for February. City site had an average of 1141 hits per day. Rocknet average of 249 per day. Betsy reported that the spring recreation guide was placed on the city site. The site shows current status of available summer camps. Next month the kids art show will display 75 images. 4) Stan reported that Eastern European intruders are breaking into NT servers that have not closed known weak points and attempting to blackmail companies when they have obtained credit card numbers. Ben offered to be of help in this area and look at Rocknet. 5) Mike suggests a letter and presentation to Mayor and Council to keep them informed of Rocknet activities. Money appropriated last year and not spent will roll over because it is in a special projects fund. Bob planned to appear at budget hearing. 6) Rocknet plans to purchase a digital camera that stores images on 3.5" floppy for ease of use by community groups. 7) It was also suggested that Rocknet should get more RAM and obtain a new listserve program to expand our capacity to 100 listserves. 8) The possibility of placing advertisements for Rocknet on the City cable channel was endorsed.
