RockNet has acquired a Sony Mavica digital camera for use by community organizations within the City of Rockville.  We will loan out the camera to community organizations to create digital pictures for their community web site or community publications.  This service is part of our mission to improve communications among our citizens.

It is easy for representatives of community organizations to borrow our camera.  Just contact Jim Beller, the RockNet Treasurer, at 301-762-3374, camera@rocknet.org.  You will need to fill out our Community Camera Form.  Jim will require a copy of the form and a photo copy of your driver's license. You can borrow the camera for a week.

Our community camera is a Sony Mavica MVC FD-87.  It records 1.3 megapixel pictures on standard 3.5" floppy diskettes.  Depending on the resolution you set on the camera, you can get up to 30 pictures on a diskette.  You can read more on the Community Camera Description.

Our camera is easy to use.  Just insert a diskette and start snapping.  We will provide you with two diskettes for you to keep.  You will also be given a battery that should give you 2.5 hours of operation.  We don't plan to loan out the battery recharger.  You should review our Community Camera Instructions.

Good luck, and let's see some great community pictures.
