ROCKNET MEETING MINUTES
Ammended
July 8, 2004

The meeting started promptly at 7:30 pm in the City Manager's Conference Room.

In attendance were Bob Ekman, Jonathan Walker, Stan Klein, Mike Cannon, Betsy Robbins, T. J. Rainsford, Dean Fiala, Harry Thomas, Ben Creitz, Art Casanova, and Roald Schrack

1) Harry Thomas introduced himself as the new president of the Twinbrook Citizens Assn (TCA) . He had questions about the admissibility of advertising on the TCA website. The similarity of the TCA request to the Sister Cities was examined and it was decided that it was permissible to replicate the TCA newsletter with any advertising in it but not permissible to carry ads in a separate context.

2) The minutes of the June 10, 2004 meeting were accepted with minor revisions.

3) Betsy Robbins reported on the city website. A cultural arts portal is being developed covering art in public places, art on the Civic Center grounds, etc. A portal is also being developed on permitting and inspection services that will offer forms and procedures relating to The Public Works and Community Planning departments.

The briefing book that is prepared for the Mayor and Council meetings is put on the website on Friday nights so the public can see the same data that is presented to the Mayor and Council for their consideration the coming Monday. Currently, it is manually compiled into a PDF file.  In the future, it will be generated with a Lotus Notes program that was obtained from another city.

Rocknet had an average of 375 visits per day for the month of June, compared to 373 in May.

4) The webcam project to view the activities at the Town Center site moved ahead with site surveys on the roof of the Victoria apartments and City Hall.  Decisions were made on equipment and orders placed. The Yagi antennae have been received but the Cisco Aironet units have not been received and are on back order. When the equipment is received tests will be carried out to see if everything performs as desired before the units are installed on the roofs.

The meeting adjourned at 9:20 PM

Respectfully submitted

Roald Schrack
