                     ROCKNET MEETING MINUTES
                            
                         February 10, 2000

Meeting called to order at approximately 7:40 p.m. by Bob Ekman in the 
City Manager's Conference Room at City Hall.

In attendance: Bob Ekman, Bob Skinner, Chuck Wilsker, Betsy Robbins,
Jim Beller, Mike Cannon, Roald Schrack

Actions:

1. Minutes of previous meeting approved with minor modifications.

2. Discussion of statistics for City and Rocknet websites.

3. Placement of Library web link and their referral to us.

4. Index server still not working on web server.

5. The status of the by-laws was brought up. It was noted that the by-laws
as of the date shown on them on the website (October 1, 1998) but that it 
had not been noted in the minutes for that meeting. A vote was then taken 
by the board ( without objection) to affirm the acceptance of the by-laws 
at this time and to be recorded in the minutes.

6. It was noted that the City Budget is to be presented to the Mayor and
Council on 27 April with public hearings to held on 1 and 8 May.  There
was extended discussion of the need for a security check of the server and
the addition of security software to protect against unwanted intrusion.
It was estimated that $5000 should be requested to cover these expenses.

7. It was agreed that a statement should be made at the public hearing
thanking the city for their support during the past year and the need for
continued support over the coming year. A progress report should be made
indicating the operation of the new server and our cooperative
relationship with the city website.

8. Bob Ekman brought up the Science Fair to be held at Montgomery College 
on 30 April. Rocknet will have an exhibit as in previous years. Bob Ekman
suggested that the city have an exhibit featuring the city Geographical
Information System.

9. There was a discussion of correlating the efforts of the Technology Action
Team and Rocknet.

10. A revised brochure was discussed and a proposed draft was displayed. The
concept of specialized homepages with links appropriate for different age
groups was discussed.

11. Jim Beller brought up a number of suggested ways for Rocknet to raise
money.

The meeting was adjourned at 9:30 PM.
